The number of positive coronavirus cases in Abbeville County continues to grow rapidly, according to figures from South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
As of the afternoon of Monday, July 20, Abbeville County had 241 positive cases of coronavirus, with one confirmed coronavirus-related death and one probable coronavirus-related passing.
The new number represented a mushroom cloud of growth in the outbreak.
Abbeville County had 165 positive cases as of Wednesday, July 15.
As of Thursday, July 16 at 3 p.m., the county was home to 169 positive cases.
In the state as a whole, there have been a total of 1,147 COVID-19 deaths, and the total number of positive cases came to 71,213.
Among Abbeville's neighboring counties, Anderson had 1,424 positive cases and 26 deaths.
Greenwood had 1,012 cases and 10 confirmed deaths.
Laurens had 938 cases and 15 deaths, and McCormick 79 positive cases and two confirmed deaths.
As of Monday afternoon, there were 3,761,362 confirmed cases in the United States and 143,000 deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
