SLED is investigating the discovery of a dead body behind the Abbeville County Courthouse in Abbeville, according to law enforcement sources.
The body of an older man was discovered yesterday morning -- Tuesday, July 14 -- by Abbeville Police officers.
The man has been identified, but his name had not at press time been released, and there is no danger to the public, SLED indicated in published reports.
SLED does not, according to the published reports, suspect anything suspicious or any foul play involved in the man's death.
They were asked to investigate by the Abbeville Police Department, the source said.
An autopsy is expected to be conducted on the body soon.
