The Freshwater Coast Center for Rural Development is planning to present on May 14 a free online workshop on the business of farming.
The workshop, slated for 1:30 p.m. on May 14, will be in the form of a Zoom meeting, accessible here. The meeting ID is 849-3347-7347.
"Grower's 101 -- Online Free Workshop (Starting a Farm Business)" will be taught by Adam Gore, an ag/horticulture Extension Agent, and Wilder Ferreira, a Rural Development Agent, both with Clemson University.
"Are you interested in growing plants and vegetables to increase family income and provide food to your community against COVID-19?" asks a question in an email promoting the event.
"Come learn from our specialists about soil management, fertilization and crop rotation; and you will also become familiar with enterprise budgets to learn about production costs and profits."
The Freshwater Coast Center for Rural Development, which evolved from the Freshwater Coast Community Foundation, has been presenting a number of workshops, many of which have been held at the Greater Abbeville Chamber of Commerce.
Given the concerns presented by the coronavirus workshop, Ferreira recently noted that he plans to put the workshops online.
